About this event
Every year the Peregrine fund releases four juvenile California Condors at Vermilion Cliffs National Monument in what can only be described as a triumph of conservation. Once on the brink of extinction with as few as 22 birds in the wild in 1982. Today there are over 300 free-flying wild California Condors, and this is a chance to experience four more joining that wild population! Parking is limited at the Condor release, so we are facilitating a carpool or rideshare system for folks looking to make the trip from the Phoenix Metro area. When signing up, please indicate if you would prefer to be a driver or passenger to help facilitate logistics. A suggested itinerary highlighting birding spots and points of interest will be shared via email. Bring: Spotting scope or binoculars, sunscreen, hat, ample water, cash, snacks, a chair, and layered clothing. The closest facilities to obtain supplies are 40 minutes from the remote release site. Available spots: TBA Facilitator: Robert Carter
