About this event

Ephemera Opening Reception: November 6, 6-10pm, Free Exhibit Dates: Tuesday, November 10 - 20, Viewing: Tuesday through Friday, Noon to 6pm This Alwun House exhibit - Ephemera invites you to delve deep into the delicate interplay of memory, identity, and the remnants we leave behind. This exhibition by Chance Ty Edmonds transforms discarded, preserved, and forgotten imagery into evocative portraits that linger in the liminal space between the familiar and the lost. It embodies a visual exploration of happy-sad melancholy, capturing the tension between what we choose to preserve and the inevitable decay of time. The artworks feature mixed media drawings, rich in hyper-detailed portraiture, serving as living canvases for historical paper relics, Japanese postal stamps, and canceled tags. Each piece veils and protects figures beneath a mosaic of discarded human history, reflecting the beauty and transience of impermanence. As you journey through the exhibition, you will encounter a narrative unfolding through thoughtfully curated groupings of works, organized by color palette and motifs of paper ephemera. This arrangement creates a cohesive rhythm throughout the space, drawing viewers into an intimate engagement with the intricate details. Larger, un-matted anchor pieces stand as bold focal points, commanding attention and grounding the exhibition, while inviting contemplation of the ephemeral nature of existence.
